Tasting Australia 2016

Tasting Australia is back for another year with a smorgasbord of food and wine experiences from the 1st-8th of May 2016.

The 8-day program features the freshest local produce, some of the world’s finest chefs and an array of venues and events throughout the state.

Tasting Australia is a journey of eating and drinking that uncovers what South Australia’s food scene is all about, showcasing its premium-quality wines, succulent seafood, superb beef, delicious fruit and vegetables and hand-made cheeses.

The Town Square is the heart of Tasting Australia in Victoria Square acting as a hub with food stalls, workshops and cooking demonstrations where visitors can expect to indulge in local produce, debate the future of food or watch your culinary hero during a demonstration on the main stage. Pop in throughout the week for a bite to eat from one of the regional food outlets with amazing food, wine, beer and cider on offer or check out the Town Square on Sunday 1st of May for the Fork on the Road event where all your favourite food trucks will showcase South Australia’s best produce.

The Tasting Australia program will have a strong focus on regional eating and drinking events to be held in the Barossa, Fleurieu Peninsula, Adelaide Hills, Adelaide City, Flinders Ranges, Clare Valley, Kangaroo Island and the Riverland. From farmgate lunches, vineyard walks, intimate dinners and masterclasses held in rural pastures.

The Mayfair Hotel is hosting “High Tea in the company of Belinda Jeffrey” in the Mayflower Restaurant as part of the Tasting Australia program. Belinda Jeffery is one of Australia’s most beloved cookbook writers and food stylists. This event is all about the experience of an indulgent, old-fashioned high tea with the finest cakes, pastries and desserts. Taking place on Friday 6th May from 2:30pm – 4:30pm with tickets available for purchase here for a cost of $52.00
