Is it time you paid a visit to the Clare Valley?

The summer holidays are here and it’s time to plan your next escape. The Clare Valley is a pleasant drive North of Adelaide to one of the most spectacular wine regions that South Australia has to offer.

Recognised for its Rieslings and a remarkable variety of red wines, Clare is home to around 40 cellar doors and the 32km track that make up the Riesling Trail. Take on the trail, suitable for walkers and cyclists*, pass by stunning scenery, picturesque countryside, vineyard views, historic locations, restaurants and galleries.

Clare Valley is unique in its own right due to the distinct climatic conditions allowing a large variety of grapes, luring winemakers and boutique wineries from all across Australia. There are two types of Riesling produced in the Valley, fruit grown in the Watervale region is known for producing a soft, rounded Riesling with a citrusy, tropical and sometimes floral flavour. Whereas fruit from the Polish River region produces a sharper, more focused wine.

For those looking for family friendly activities, the Valley and its surroundings are drenched in history. A short drive from the township of Clare you will find the little town of Mintaro, home to the giant maze. Mintaro Maze is a living hedge maze consisting of over 800 conifers, fountains, twist and turns, test your skills and escape the maze (don’t forget to have fun along the way). Close by, you will also find the majestic Martindale Hall built in 1879. Take a tour and wonder its 32+ rooms that transport you back to the 1800’s.

The Clare Country Club is just on the outskirts of the Clare Township, with Conners Restaurant & Bar offering a menu focusing on fresh, local and quality produce from the Clare Valley region. Guests can also sample some of the finest regional wines from a wine list exclusively comprised of Clare Valley wines.

See you in the Clare Valley soon.
